Representative office of American Bar Association/Rule of Law Initiative (ABA/ROLI) in Almaty, Kazakhstan

(ABA/ROLI) in Almaty, Kazakhstan

is looking for the candidates to fill the following position

STAFF ATTORNEY

The qualified candidate will take a leadership role in implementing several organization’s programs which currently include rule of law, legal education, gender rights and criminal law reform The Staff Attorney will be responsible for direct implementation of ABA ROLI activities, events and projects. The Staff Attorney will have additional duties such as contributing to written reports and proposals.

Qualifications:

- Degree in Law required. Master's degree preferred;

- Fluent in English and Russian (Kazakh or Uzbek is a plus);

- At least 5 years' prior work experience as a lawyer in the fields of law relevant to the program activities;

- Experience of human rights advocacy, with the focus on gender rights, including training and working with lawyers, advocacy groups and legal clinics is a must;

- Experience in a similar position with an international organization is preferred;

- Skilled at conducting legal research and analysis;

- Demonstrated experience in project management and reporting;

- Strong communication skills, written and oral;

- Excellent computer skills;

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills;

- Ability to travel periodically within and outside the Central Asia region.
